1.  Operations Manager

Sultan of Samosas Inc., a leader in their field of samosa making, is preparing for growth and seeks an energetic individual, experienced in the food industry, that is willing to work hard and help take our Company to the next level.

The right candidate will be passionate about all areas of food production from the making of the best crispy pastry in town, combining fresh local ingredients to make various types of tasty fillings, assembling each samosa with precision, packing them with care, and serving them with joy to our thousands of retail customers. We also service a wide, ever-expanding wholesale network.

 

Salary: $24 per hour (negotiable depending on level of experience in key areas)

Key Responsibilities:

Lead all operational aspects of the business to ensure efficiencies in productivity, adherence to job standards, safe food handling, product quality, and excellence in customer service are at the forefront of all day to day activities and decision-making.

Areas include: Bakery, kitchen, samosa assembly packaging, corporate retail stores and wholesale network.

Responsibilities also include:

Hiring, Training and Ongoing Leadership

Financial Budgeting, Purchasing & Cost Controls

Decision-Making, Policy Writing and Process/Systems Development

Support with Growth Initiatives and Menu Development

Qualifications:

Business college or university graduate

5 years’ experience in the food industry, preferably in a related food type.

Experience in a food processing or food manufacturing environment.

Experience in leading a staff of 20 or more people

Excellent command of the spoken and written English language

Current Safe Food Handling Certification

Current First Aid Certification or willing to complete upon job offer

Experience with budgeting, forecasting and cost controls

Experience with written Corporate communications

Familiarity with HACCP and Workplace Safety Regulations

Competencies:

Excellent leadership and inter-personal skills

Attention to detail

Ability to prioritize

Analytical

Professional communication skills

Sound decision-making capabilities

Computer skills to include MS Word, Excel, and Outlook

Multi-lingual in Urdu and Hindi preferred

Experience in community engagement or volunteerism preferred

 

2.  Baker (Fulltime/Nightshift)

Sultan of Samosas is a fixture in Toronto’s foodie community with a proud history of almost 25 years of serving delicious and quality samosas to food lovers across the GTA. Our clients include regulars in both East York and Cabbagetown South, restaurants, catering services, grocery stores and even local celebrities looking to change up their entertainment scene. Our industrial kitchen is located near Victoria Park and Eglinton and is TTC accessible. Plenty of parking on site.

We are currently looking for a Fulltime/Nightshift Baker. This individual will work a minimum of 40 hours per week

Salary:  $17-$19/hr

Responsibilities:

Following recipes, accurate measurement specifications and process as set out by our tried and true methods

Preparing daily items according to instructions

Scaling ingredients according to recipes

Loading and unloading ingredients in mixing bowl

Operating and managing mixing machinery and equipment

Conduct manual mixing and dough preparation methods

Checking dough / mixture temperature for every batch

Replenish ingredient bins as needed

Completing reports and maintenance logs accurately and in a timely manner

Assisting in cleaning food prep areas, maintaining equipment, and utensils, while strictly adhering to sanitation, food safety, and hygiene guidelines

Following first in, first out method to maximize freshness

Following and enforcing hygiene and food safety standards set by the Health Department/Company

Skills & Experience:

2 years’ experience in a kitchen, restaurant or bakery

Education or interest in culinary arts an asset

Minimum high school certificate with college diploma preferred

Good manual dexterity, able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils.

Knowledge of health and safety rules

Must be able to lift up to 25 kgs

Physical abilities to stand for long periods of time

Dexterity to use kitchen tools and instruments

Must be able to work alone or in a team environment.

Takes pride in producing a great product every day.

Good communication, organizational skills, patience and interpersonal skills both written and oral.

Food handling certificate an asset, or willingness to obtain with company support

Must be able to work under pressure with minimal supervision

Must be eligible to work in Canada.

 

3. Cook (Fulltime)

We are currently looking for a Fulltime Cook. This individual will work a minimum of 40 hours per week.

Salary:  $16-$18/hr

Responsibilities:

Perform routine kitchen tasks

Follow the prep list created by kitchen management

Label and stock all ingredients on shelves, food storage bins, cooler and freezer so that they are and easily accessible

Measure quantities of cooking ingredients

Cooking, washing, chopping and sorting vegetables, meat, etc.

Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen: washing dishes, taking out trash and adhering to cleaning schedules of equipment, kitchen facilities, etc.

Keeping track of ingredients, inventory following first in first out methodology

Prepare and maintain daily prep sheets to record quantities on hand, cooking records.

Adhering to all relevant nutrition and sanitary regulations and food safety standards.

Perform other kitchen duties as assigned.

Skills & Experience:

2 years’ experience in a kitchen or restaurant

Education or interest in culinary arts an asset

Minimum high school certificate with college diploma preferred

Good manual dexterity, able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils.
